New Software + New Hardware = New Horizons
The following pieces were created using Corel Painter 12 and the Wacom Tablet.
I really enjoy this type of digital artwork, and can't wait to explore the possibilities. Some of these illustrations combine images that I created in Illustrator and/or Photoshop, and brought into Corel Painter 12 to paint.
I have also included some of the "practice lessons" from the class. ENJOY!

LEARNING EXCERCISE 1: The Pear
Not bad for my first attempt to draw something. I guess a little practice won't hurt either - right?
I'm confident that I will be able to track my progress as I move through the course. This is a new concept for me - a little hand eye coordination between the tablet and the monitor is going to be my biggest challenge, I think. This is not like traditional illustration, where I can move the paper to get the right angle, no, the tablet reads parallel to the monitor - and it is my wrist that must bend and twist to the curves. . . |
LEARNING EXCERCISE 2: Chili Pepper
LEARNING EXCERCISE 3: The Big Soft ChairThis is the second attempt for this chair. I used hard square pastels and an oily blender, which proofed to be a bit more complicated than I thought it would be. Once I figured out how to blend the colors together I think it added a nice touch. Give me a book and a snuggly blanket, I'm ready to plop down in that chair!

LEARNING EXCERCISE 4: The Shoes on the WallA little different style than what I'm used to, but still a fun assignment. I'm already starting to critique my work, and learn from my mistakes. This assignment gave me a bit of a challenge with the various paper types, and brush versions, and switching between the two. But, I like the new approach. "Intentional Sloppy" can be fun, and opens my imagination . . . hmmmmm.

The Swan and Flower Mallard Duck
A little practice never hurts. I have already started to notice a particular style with the things I create on my own.
I've been learning quite a bit this semester, and can't help but see a lot of possibilities with digital painting software. I think I'm in love.
